Repair for La Mie Câline

From collision to competition

Overview

In September 2024, the IMOCA La Mie Câline required an urgent composite repair after a collision with a fishing boat. With the Vendée Globe looming, our team responded immediately, working tirelessly to restore the yacht to race-ready condition in record time. The repair highlighted our expertise in high-pressure, time-sensitive scenarios. Step-by-Step Repair Process:

      • Mold Creation: Laminated a custom splash mold to guide precise panel replacement.
      • Core Reconstruction: Removed damaged nomex core, replaced with thermoformed corecel, and bonded under vacuum.
      • Lamination: Wet-laminated inner and outer skins with accurate stagger layers for structural integrity.
      • Surface Preparation: Cleared old paint, varnish, and glue film to ensure flawless connections.
      • Final Reinforcement: Reinstated gussets, stanchion pools, and pad eyes for added strength and functionality.

This project is a testament to Biscay Composites’ expertise in delivering critical repairs under tight deadlines. By combining precision, innovation, and teamwork, La Mie Câline is now fully restored and ready to compete.
