Coach Roof Modification And New Paint for Guyot Environnement Team

In our second project with the Guyot Environnement team, we executed a series of technical enhancements aimed at optimizing both the performance and the visual appeal of the Imoca 60 in preparation for the Vendée Globe 2024. Completed over an 8-week period, this project was meticulously planned and executed to ensure the highest standards of quality at every stage.

Construction Process:

Mast Reinforcements: Comprehensive repairs were carried out on the mast chain plates, adhering to the Gsea 2D plans for the Imoca class. This involved detailed sanding, lamination, and vacuum curing to ensure optimal adhesion of the composite reinforcements.

New Antenna Base Support Construction: A new antenna base support was designed and fabricated according to the client’s specifications. This included custom mold preparation and precise installation of the base and its supporting structure.

Coach Roof Modification: The modifications included redesigning the roof to accommodate the front side windows, cutting and installing a new flat panel, and extending the rear bridge of the roof. The process involved meticulous mold preparation, lamination, and installation of the new coach roof components, including windows and hatches.

Complete Boat Painting: The repainting process encompassed the application of non-slip coatings, black paint for the cockpit and coach roof, and anti-fouling paint for the areas below the waterline. A detailed schedule was followed for sanding, priming, and applying final coats, using Alexeil products to ensure superior quality and durability.

This project has thoroughly prepared the boat to face the Vendée Globe 2024, ensuring it not only meets the highest technical specifications but also showcases an enhanced appearance for the upcoming races.
