Forward Side Deck Refurbishment For Guyot Environment

In our first project with GUYOT ENVIRONMENT an IMOCA 60, we meticulously repaired the forward side deck. This included addressing specific issues such as core compression, skin
delamination, and the removal of the J1 chainplate, a critical component of the forward rigging system.

Construction Process:

Mold Machining: Precise molds were crafted in MDF based on a detailed assessment of the damage. These molds ensure an accurate reconstruction of the laminate in the affected section of the hull.

Composite Parts Fabrication: Wet-lamination was performed over the molds, bonding the core with the outer laminate. The inner skin was laminated under vacuum to ensure uniform and durable adhesion.

Assembly and Alignment: The fabricated parts were assembled to verify alignment with the hull structure. Various options for final assembly were considered to optimize precision and manageability.

3D Scanning and Finalization: A 3D scan of the repaired area was utilized to precisely mark adjustment lines, reducing composite work and ensuring a perfect integration of the new parts with the original hull.
